A Conversation with Anthony
How do you help students in your current role?
In my role as an academic advisor, I support students by helping them navigate their academic journey with clarity and confidence. This includes assisting with course selection, degree planning, and understanding academic policies and requirements. I also work closely with students to identify their goals—both academic and professional—and connect them with campus resources that align with their needs. Beyond academics, I strive to create a supportive environment where students feel heard, encouraged, and empowered to take ownership of their education.
What do you believe makes East Texas A&M a standout choice for students?
East Texas A&M stands out because it's a place where students are truly supported. The smaller classes mean that students can get to know their professors and ask questions when they need to. We also help students find opportunities to learn outside of the classroom through internships, research, and community work.
Being part of the local community is important to us, and students can see that right away. East Texas A&M is a good fit for students who want a solid education and a place where they feel like they belong.
What do you enjoy most about your role as an academic advisor at East Texas A&M? Why?
What I enjoy most about my role as an academic advisor at East Texas A&M is the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on students’ lives and their academic success. Building relationships helps me better connect with my students and guide them in ways that fit their goals and get them to graduation. Seeing them walk the stage with a diploma in hand or land their first job in their dream career field gives me so much joy!
