Division of Research and Economic Development:Internal Funding
We know you’re doing important work. As an incentive for connecting with agencies and organizations as you seek external funding, we may be able to provide internal funding.
Internal funding refers to funds supplied to faculty researchers by East Texas A&M University or by the Texas A&M University System.
You may be familiar with requesting research funds directly from your department head or college dean; however, the Office of Sponsored Programs oversees two research incentive programs which may be able to offer you additional funding for your original research. These programs encourage you to apply for external funding by awarding internal funding toward select projects.
PSI – Proposal Submission Incentive
Under the Proposal Submission Incentive (PSI), the Office of Sponsored Programs may choose to award a portion of internal funding for East Texas A&M faculty researchers who first apply for external funding. Importantly, you do not need to successfully receive external funding to qualify. Sponsored Programs will evaluate your application materials, and if your project sounds promising, you may still qualify for internal funding, even if the external agency denies your proposal.
Note: Award amounts are calculated based on a percentage of the external award requested, not the full external award amount.
FRIPP – Faculty Research Incentive Pay Program
The Faculty Research Incentive Pay Program (FRIPP) will recognize and reward recipients who have received external funding.
