Research Incentive Programs

We know you’re doing important work. As an incentive for connecting with agencies and organizations as you seek external funding, Sponsored Programs oversees two research incentive programs which may be able to offer additional funding for your original research. These programs encourage you to apply for external funding by awarding internal funding toward select projects.

PSI – Proposal Submission Incentive

Through the Proposal Submission Incentive (PSI), Sponsored Programs encourages timely proposal development and submission by offering internal funding to East Texas A&M faculty researchers who first apply for external grants. Importantly, you do not need to successfully receive external funding to qualify. Sponsored Programs will evaluate your application materials, and if your project sounds promising, you may still qualify for internal funding, even if the external agency denies your proposal. When an eligible grant proposal is submitted, funds are placed into a principal investigator’s (PI) account, available to be used for research-related expenses.

Note: Award amounts are calculated based on a percentage of the external award requested, not the full external award amount.

FRIPP – Faculty Research Incentive Pay Program

The Faculty Research Incentive Pay Program (FRIPP) is designed to recognize and reward recipients of extramural funds that enhance research, scholarship, service and creativity at the university. FRIPP enables the university to provide incentive payments to faculty who are effective in securing extramural funding that is used to pay some fraction of their nine-month salary.
