School of Music Shares the Magic of Music in Concert for Area Children

Several ensembles from East Texas A&M University's School of Music performed for more than 1,500 children from Greenville, Caddo Mills, Bland, and Celeste at a free concert at the historic Greenville Municipal Auditorium in Greenville, Texas.

The Wind Ensemble, Panimation Steel Drum Band and the Mariachi Leones student organization performed several pieces for the children in attendance. The event was an effort to reach area school districts, educate children about various musical styles, and showcase the talents of East Texas A&M music students.

Opened in 1939, the Greenville Municipal Auditorium has hosted many legendary music acts throughout its 86-year history, including Elvis Presley, George Strait, Loretta Lynn and Duke Ellington. In addition to concerts, the auditorium also hosts plays, musicals and other special events.

The School of Music hosts numerous concerts and recitals featuring a variety of ensembles, all of which are free and open to the public. Hundreds of East Texas A&M students major in music, with concentrations in either education or performance, but ensembles are open to both majors and non-majors.
