Reactivated Chi Sigma Iota Chapter at East Texas A&M Initiates New Members
The Department of Counseling at East Texas A&M University celebrated student accomplishments during a Fall 2024 ceremony to initiate new Chi Sigma Iota Counseling Academic and Professional Honor Society International members.
The occasion marked the Epsilon Tau chapter's first initiation ceremony since 2013. Founded in 1985, the chapter shuttered from 2015 until its reactivation in 2023. Faculty advisor Dr. Karl Mitchell said the chapter will hold ceremonies each fall and spring to induct new members.
2024-2025 officers include:
- Weiping Katherine Lam, president
- Ana Luisa Castro, president-elect
- Amanda Marie Ly, secretary
- Rocky Van Nguyen, treasurer
Mitchell is the chapter's faculty advisor, and Dr. Ajitha Kumaran is the group's backup/co-chapter faculty advisor.
Chi Sigma Iota promotes scholarship, research, professionalism, leadership and excellence in counseling.
The Epsilon Tau Honor Society is comprised of current students, alumni, and faculty. The chapter's mission is to promote excellence in the counseling profession and provide members with opportunities for professional development, community engagement, wellness and more.
