NABA Chapter Inspires Future Business Leaders at Annual National Convention in Las Vegas
Six members of the East Texas A&M University NABA chapter–two recent May 2025 graduates and four continuing students–returned uplifted from the 2025 NABA National Convention in Las Vegas. These chapter leaders immersed themselves in career expos, leadership workshops, and networking receptions that connected them with industry professionals from top companies.
Eunice Offei, the chapter's public relations officer and a graduate assistant in the Department of Accounting & Finance, reflected on her leadership journey. “Hearing industry leaders share diverse perspectives reinforced the value of mentorship and intentional growth,” she said. Offei plans to leverage these lessons by enhancing development events on campus and strengthening connections with corporate partners. She praised College of Business faculty member and patron Dr. Ran Ling for their unwavering support, noting, “Their guidance helped us navigate opportunities, build strong networks and grow as a chapter.”
Mika Kouakou, treasurer of the East Texas A&M chapter, noted that its increasing momentum and national visibility have positioned the university as an emerging presence within the NABA community. She emphasized the importance of preparation, encouraging students to polish resumes, refine LinkedIn profiles, and practice elevator pitches ahead of every event. “Increasing awareness of NABA's resources will help more students unlock internships and job opportunities,” she observed, underscoring the chapter's commitment to linking peers with meaningful employment and professional development.
Both Eunice and Mika agree that the true power of conferences lies in stepping beyond their comfort zones. “Show genuine interest, actively participate, and don't hesitate to introduce yourself,” Eunice advises. “These gatherings aren't just about networking—they're where careers are launched and lifelong connections are formed.”
As the local NABA chapter, which is open to all students, builds on this year's success, its leaders encourage fellow Lions to attend student events and conferences with clear goals and open minds. By investing in preparation, seizing every conversation and embracing mentorship, students can accelerate their professional journeys and contribute to a vibrant, supportive community of future business leaders.
