Mentorship Mixer Connects East Texas A&M Students with Experiential Learning Opportunities
The East Texas A&M University Undergraduate Research Opportunity Collaboration (UROC) and Honors College will host a Spring Mentorship Mixer on Monday, March 23, offering students an opportunity to connect with faculty and staff about research and other experiential learning opportunities.
The event, scheduled from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. on the first floor of the Velma K. Waters Library, is open to all students, not just those in the Honors College. Hosted by the (UROC) and the Honors College, the mixer is designed to foster connections that can lead to undergraduate research, internships and project-based learning experiences.
UROC, launched in Fall 2025, works to connect students with research opportunities across campus. Through initiatives such as the Faculty Research Interest Database and the Suitable platform, students can explore projects, complete guided tasks and engage directly with faculty mentors. UROC also supports a Federal Work Study Research Assistantship program, allowing eligible students to gain paid research experience.
Organizers say the mixer builds on the success of a similar event held last fall, which drew strong participation from both students and faculty. The come-and-go format encourages informal conversations, helping students take the first step toward meaningful academic and career pathways. All are welcome and refreshments will be provided!
