Lion Olympians Receive Proclamation from the City of Commerce

COMMERCE – The City of Commerce has proclaimed September 17, 2024, as “Lion 2024 Olympian Day” in honor of the three Texas A&M University-Commerce track and field student-athletes that competed at the 2024 Summer Olympics.
Joseph Brown represented Team USA in men’s discus in Paris, Ibrahim Fuseini took part in the Paris game representing Team Ghana in the men’s 4×100 meter relay, and Mariana Shostak competed for Team Ukraine in the mixed 4×400 meter relay.
The trio was presented with a proclamation from City of Commerce Mayor Teddy Reel and the City Council during the city council meeting on Tuesday night as well as a Texas state flag hung at the Texas State Capitol in Austin.
Brown is a 2019 Lion graduate, while both Shostak and Fuseini are currently students at A&M-Commerce.
