Two East Texas A&M Lion Track and Field student-athletes set new records at the Charlie Thomas Invitational, hosted by Texas A&M University on Feb. 7 and 8.

Jenneil Jacobie (Piat Grand Rivière, Saint Lucia) broke both the school and Southland Conference indoor record in the women’s high jump event with a height of 1.87m. The mark also tied the all-time meet record. Jacobie’s jump is currently tied for the eighth-best height in the event in NCAA Division I this season.

On the second day of the meet, Anete Randma (Tallinn, Estonia) broke her own school record in the women’s 3,000 meter run with a time of 9:47.81. This marked the second school record she eclipsed this season, breaking her own record in the women’s mile run with an altitude-adjusted time of 4:51.20 at the New Mexico Team Open in January.

Lion Track and Field is next in action at the Arkansas Qualifier on February 20 in Fayetteville, Arkansas, the final indoor event before the conference championships.
