ETAMU Music Faculty Member Gives Piano Concert at National Music Museum

East Texas A&M University's Dr. Luis Sanchez wowed audiences with a guest performance at the National Music Museum in Vermillion, South Dakota, on March 6.

Sanchez, a professor of music in piano, performed as part of “NMM Live!”, a concert series featuring guest artists from around the country. For the concert, Sanchez played on the museum's Wolf fortepiano, a modern replica modeled after an instrument created by Johann Schantz around the year 1800. This offered audiences a vivid opportunity to hear Classical-era repertoire on an instrument uniquely suited to its sound.

A native of Argentina, Sanchez has taught in East Texas A&M's School of Music since 2007. Among many accolades, he was named Collegiate Teacher of the Year by the Texas Music Teachers Association in 2019. Sanchez has performed as a Steinway Artist since 2012.
