East Texas A&M Alumnus Named Dean of TJC North

Adam Palacios, a graduate of East Texas A&M University, has been named dean of Tyler Junior College North (TJC North) in Lindale, where he will oversee operations and guide the campus's strategic direction.

Palacios previously served as director of business and industry partnerships at TJC, where he strengthened collaborations with regional employers and developed workforce programs to address local skills gaps. His work led to initiatives such as the HVAC-R ammonia technician track and the creation of the TJC Safety Institute, reflecting a strong commitment to industry-aligned education.

In his new role, Palacios will focus on expanding academic and workforce offerings for Lindale and Northeast Texas communities. He will also continue building partnerships with local stakeholders to support regional economic development and career readiness efforts.

A Tyler native, Palacios began his educational journey at TJC, where he earned associate degrees in radio and television broadcasting and multimedia marketing. He went on to complete his Bachelor of Applied Arts and Sciences through East Texas A&M, a program known for serving working adults and transfer students through flexible, career-focused curriculum. He later earned an MBA from Capella University and is set to complete a Doctor of Business Administration this August.

“I am incredibly honored to begin my new role at TJC North and profoundly grateful to ETAMU for laying a strong foundation in organizational leadership,” Palacios said. “The university's rigorous program and dedicated faculty have equipped me with the vision, skills and confidence essential to thrive and lead effectively in this exciting new chapter.”

Palacios has served as an adjunct professor of mass communications and is active across several campus initiatives, including the TJC Hispanic Student Organization and multiple college-wide committees. He also sits on the board of the East Texas Technology and Innovation Coalition.

His career reflects how East Texas A&M—and its College of Innovation and Design in particular—can help working professionals and nontraditional students turn real-world experience into leadership opportunities through flexible, career-driven education.
