Twin Oats Resources:Introduction
Frequently Asked Questions
Where can I park when visiting the farm?
We suggest parking along the side of the gravel road in front of the residency. There is some shade at certain times in the day and will not block the flow of traffic by our students coming in and out of the residency, as well as not interfere with work vehicles traveling between spaces.
How can I get involved?
- Events and Volunteering
- You can check our website calendar for upcoming events and volunteer days, as well as follow the ‘Twin Oaks Farm for Experiential Learning' Facebook page.
- Student Opportunities
- Our land provides space for not only student workers but also student researchers. You can also contact Dr. Grace Ogden to ask questions about what kinds of research opportunities we have in our program.
- Donations
- Every little bit counts towards progressing our farm and advancing students' experience and learning. You can provide donations using the following link. (INSERT DONATION LINK)
What is the purpose of the House on the property?
The building on the site is a residence for student workers. It hosts people who work across all aspects of the university farm. Living onsite allows students to become fully immersed in the experience.
Is there a Compost Drop-Off at Twin Oaks?
So glad you asked, we do! There is a blue receiving bin that is out by our driveway on the property 24-7, and it is labeled with a sign. We accept all forms of plant or plant-based items. This can include kitchen scraps, lawn clippings, garden waste, food waste, and so on. We also accept eggshells as an exception outside of plant-based items. All donations are then collected and added to our compost bin to eventually become important nutrients for our crops.
How do I get there?
Our address is 2965 along State Highway 24 in Campbell, Texas. The turn-in will take you along a driveway and up to a house. That house is where we are stationed. Typically, if arriving for an event, there will be workers outside to guide you where you need to go
What will I be doing when I volunteer?
Typical volunteer activities include weeding, planting, harvesting, mulching, or picking up limbs.
What to bring or wear when volunteering?
We recommend wearing a long-sleeve shirt (for warmth or sun protection, depending on the time of year), long pants, closed-toe shoes, and plenty of drinking water.
