Laney Oman Academic Advisor I

Laney Oman was a first-generation college student and attended Texas A&M University to study Agricultural Economics with a minor in AgriFood Sales. Now, she is working towards a master's degree in Agricultural Communications. Laney’s goal through her education is to be well-rounded in many aspects, as Laney will be knowledgeable in both the business/economics aspect, as well as communicative aspects. Outside of work and college courses, she enjoys spending time with family and friends, hunting, and watching college football (especially the Fightin' Texas Aggies)! Laney also enjoys reading, baking, and playing pickleball.
How do you help students at East Texas A&M?
I help students at East Texas A&M by answering any questions they have about their academic career, as well as help guide them to any other resources the campus may offer. Outside of academics, I try to help them navigate college life in any way possible as well.

What would you tell a student who is thinking about attending East Texas A&M?
East Texas A&M is a beautiful, accessible, and community-oriented university. There are so many resources available, along with amazing advisors who are committed to assisting students throughout their academic journey. I would highly recommend students attend East Texas A&M to want to better themselves at an amazing university.
What do you like most about your career?
I love having the opportunity to help college students navigate their academic journey. As a first-generation college student myself, I understand the importance of having a mentor through the form of an advisor during your college career. Academic advisors truly do not know the level of importance they have for the success of a student, which is why I love being a small part of that success.
