How do you help students at East Texas A&M?
I advise First Time in College students for the College of Humanities, Social Sciences, & Arts (CHSSA). I assist them with some of the unique challenges experienced during their first year so I can set them up for success and provide them with information and insight so that they can make informed decisions for their academic future. In addition, I work with other advisors within my college & departments on campus to make sure that they get started on the right foot toward graduation.

How has your role changed since you began working at East Texas A&M?
My role has changed substantially over the years! I began working at the university back in 2014 as a student worker for Residential Living & Learning while getting my Bachelor's.
Initially, as a member of the sustainability team, my role consisted of assisting with the implementation of the recycling program so we could help reduce our carbon footprint across campus.
Then, I transitioned to a Desk Attendant at Pride Rock, Berry, Smith, and Phase II Residence Halls where my role consisted of providing a safe and welcoming environment for students during the academic year.
Now, as an Academic Advisor, my role consists of providing academic guidance and support to students as they set off on the path toward their degree.
