Jacob earned a bachelor's degree in Business Management from East Texas A&M University (formerly Texas A&M University-Commerce) in 2021. After working in the banking industry for a few years, Jacob found his passion for working with students after joining TRIO Programs at Paris Junior College. He has now returned to his alma mater as an Academic Advisor to continue his career in higher education. His time with East Texas A&M and the Honors College helped Jacob realize the kind of career he wanted: being able to use his service, knowledge and experience to support other lifelong learners in their academic journey.
How do you help students at East Texas A&M?
I'm able to help students navigate their academic journey by providing guidance on course selection, degree planning, campus resources, and almost any questions that students run into. Advisors work closely with students to support their achievement and success – all with the goal of completing their degree and striving toward a better future.

What do you like most about your career?
As an academic advisor, all my responsibilities revolve around supporting our students. This position has allowed me to utilize my experience with member service while engaging my passion for learning. Advising is a unique practice that fits very well with my motivations and skills.
