I was brought up in a family who had an eager desire to win. I fell in love with the university, and appreciate the support from previous champions, Lion fans, and our LCF Donors. Everyone here has the desire for student-athletes to win on the field, in the classroom, and in life. I wouldn’t want it any other way.

Dominique Ramsey is driven by a passion for transformation—both personal and professional. After graduating from Judson High School, his journey through college sports, especially leading on the football field, taught him how to inspire change through action, resilience, and leadership. That same mindset now fuels his work as a process engineer for Assurant, where guiding teams and adapting to shifting environments is part of the playbook.
Life, he knows, can pivot in an instant, and embracing that unpredictability can expand our vision of what's possible. Like water, he strives to flow through challenges with agility and purpose. Developing a sponge-like mindset—soaking up knowledge, staying curious—creates momentum and opens doors. And if he's not the smartest person in the room, he knows he's exactly where he needs to be: surrounded by opportunities to grow.
A conversation with Dominique
What would you tell a student who is thinking about attending East Texas A&M?
To every aspiring Lion: remember that failure isn't the end—it's the launchpad. Growth comes from risk, so lean into the tough moments. See a challenging class? Take it. Push yourself. The payoff is in the process.
Champions are made by chance—and by choice. If you're walking the halls of East Texas A&M, you're already on the path to greatness. One quote I passed daily outside the football locker room stuck with me: “Those who stay will be Champions.” That mindset shaped me. Buy into it, and you'll find yourself winning not just on the field or in the classroom, but in life.
What else would you like to share about yourself or your East Texas A&M experience?
Experience is everything. When I first arrived on campus at 18, I felt like a small fish in a vast ocean. But that changed quickly. I connected with my professors, and they made me feel like I belonged—that I was exactly where I was meant to be.
If I could give one piece of advice, it's this: talk to your professors. Let them know who you are. Show up, ask questions and build genuine relationships. They're not just educators—they're mentors, allies and door-openers. When you invest in those connections, your network begins to grow, and so do your opportunities.
