New Students

Once you have been fully admitted to East Texas A&M, you may apply for housing. The application opens for the following Academic Year on November 1. If entering the university mid-year, the Spring Only housing application also opens on November 1.

How to Apply:

  1. MyLeo > Apps > Residential Living and Learning
  2. Click the Apply Now button for the term you wish to apply on the housing portal homepage.
  3. Complete the Application.
  4. Watch for next steps in your myLeo email.

Timeline:

November 01Application opens
April 01Housing and meal plan contracts open/Form roommate groups
May 09Priority deadline for returning students to be registered and sign housing/meal plan contracts to receive a timeslot to participate in priority room selection
May 13Students check myLeo Housing Portal for random, lottery-generated room selection timeslot
May 14 – 30Students with priority room selection timeslots log-in to myLeo Housing Portal to select a room.
June 01Students who missed priority deadline continue to apply for housing and select room immediately
July 15Students who are not fully registered for Fall 2025 and/or still have a Bacterial Meningitis hold on their account are dropped from housing and meal plan contracts
August 10Room Selection Ends/Room Swap Ends/Waitlist Opens

Important Notes:

  • There is a $125 application fee. If you are experiencing financial hardship, Residential Living and Learning can defer the fee to your fall balance after February 1st. If you need this option, please email Housing and request that your fee be deferred to your Fall balance.
  • Students must have their Bacterial Meningitis Vaccination record on file to live on campus unless they are over 22 years old.
  • Any student who is not fully registered for classes by July 15th will be dropped from their housing and meal plan and the student will loose their room assignment. Student will not be reinstated to housing and meal plan until they are able to provide an official Fall 2025 schedule.
  • Students in the Honors College and student athletes complete the exact same application process as all other students. They do have a different room assignment process and should speak to their advisor/coach if they have questions.
  • Room Selection Timeslots are assigned by a random computer-generated lottery system. All students who have signed a housing contract by May 9th will be entered into the lottery and will receive a random timeslot to select a room.
  • All students living on campus are required to have a meal plan. Students who graduated from high school in 2025 or 2024 must have the 17 or 19 meal plan.
  • Students need to check their myLeo email on a regular basis to receive information on the application process, room selection, move-in, etc.
